Hold a Recycling Drive for Your Organization
Holding a recycling drive for your business or organization is a good way to prevent electronics from being disposed of improperly. Every year we generate more and more electronic waste that usually ends up in a landfill. According to the EPA, less than 25% of E-Waste generated is actually recycled.
How Do We Coordinate a Recycling Drive for Our Business or Organization?
The best way to determine how we will handle a recycle drive with your organization depends on a few factors. First, we try and develop a sense of interest among your members through your newsletter or mailing list, if available. Once we establish an interest, we then choose a date and time to allow for the items to be dropped off. If there are any bulky items that cannot be easily removed we can sometimes schedule an on-site pick up. We could also setup an ongoing drop-off where we would come and pick up the items on a weekly basis as they come in.
What Happens to the Items After They Are Picked Up?
It is important that these devices be managed at the end of their useful lives in such a way as to prevent harm to the environment, the communities in which the devices are disposed and the workers processing the equipment. At the same time, these devices contain material that can be used in the manufacturing of new products. Material such as steel, aluminum, plastic, copper and precious metals can be separated and returned to the marketplace, giving them new life in new products.
After we pick up the items to be recycled, we sort them and prep them to be delivered to the recycling plants. All of the recycling facilities that we use are properly vetted and comply with local and government regulations.
